Aren’t they dreamy?

it’s 5am.  i can’t sleep.  today is the day i get the phone call which will determine the rest of my life.

thank god music is so comforting in nerve-wracking times like these.

Oh Marc Jacobs, Oh Chi-Town,
I will only ever praise the good work you do, not just in product, but in customer service and livelihood.
During my first-trip-ever to the windy city, I hunted for the shoes that could not be found in Toronto, hoping Chicago would yield favourable results.  To my dismay, after scouring Bloomingdale’s, Sak’s, Norstrom’s, and even the Marc Jacobs store, I was left to think these shoes were just a myth on paper, a computer-generated photoshopped image.  It was like having blue-balls.  I wanted, yet was denied.
In pouring my heart out to the staff at Marc Jacobs about my failed attempts in trying to attain my current shoe obsession, and without missing a beat, one employee hopped on google search while the other pulled out the Marc Jacobs directory and began phoning store after store - all for little old me.
Way to make a girl feel special!
Their efforts won me over and by the next day, three different sizes were shipped priority express overnight from California.  A lovely message was left for me in my hotel room urging me to come try on the shoes and that there was no pressure to make a purchase.  Could they be any more fantastic?  I skipped (tra la la! Chicago is amazing!) to the store and with the first slip of my foot into that fantastic shoe, the buttery -soft leather against my toes made my heart soar.
It was meant to be!
A quick swipe of plastic and I felt complete, especially as the awesome staff provided me with a CHICAGO MUST-DO list over hilarious back-and-forth banter (this girl loves talking to strangers who are awesome).
Experiences like this are worth every penny.  Marc Jacobs kills.  Chicago kills.  Tell everyone.

JUST COOLIN

I frequently hear about all kinds of dreadful things at work, tales of tragedy and loss are a regularity.  That’s just how it is working in health care.  I’ve come to accept this.

A few years ago, I heard the most adorable little descriptor used to describe the status of some NICU babies.  They had finished cooling and were ready for their tests.  Cooling?  Yes.  Cooling.

Instantly, I envisioned rows of naked little cherubs in sunglasses in roasting pans, fresh out of ovens with squiggley heat lines coming off their chubby little buttocks.  But alas, it is not as cute as it sounds.

When babies are born with a reduced rate of oxygen or blood to the brain, this can result in an unfavourable outcome.  That is, it is a bad thing.  To help allievite this, a process whereby a baby is brought into a therapeutic hypothermic state via lying upon a special matt is initiated for a more favourable outcome.  This process slows the metabolism and in turn reduces occurance of disability or death.

See?  Not so cute now is it?

But in life, I have learned that laughter is good medicine, so I’ll just keep picturing cute babies dancing to the above video…

amazing song.  amazing vid.  hope it doesn’t die fast for me.

the fine art of entertaining.

ah, but what can bring ladies together like nothing else?

spent a glorious evening dining with fantastic people and zee wine went straight to zee head, as it often does.

and out came the vintage - in long delicious, glorious ribbons.  pieces you wouldn’t even believe were ever given up by their once-owners.

i like this pattern of greatness: friends.  dinner.  wine.  vintage.

**special thank you to theGCProject for good times <3
